DAVID Gowans and Alan Pumfrey produced some solid golf to dominate the UGA Handicap Scheme Monthly Medal event held at the Arabian Ranches Golf Club.

Gowans carded a gross 83 to win to the gross title in Division A (0-14) which followed the stroke-play format. Martin Hunt claimed the net honours in this division with a superb score of 70.

Pumfrey scored at least one point on almost all holes to compile a brilliant 40 points to win the Division B title, two points ahead of Richard Firth who finished runner-up on a countback.

Bernadette Kelly reigned supreme in the ladies division, taking the title with 24 points.

Prizes were also presented to golfers striking their tee shots close to the pins and the winners were: Damiano Rechichi (hole 2), Brian Shepherd (seven), David Gowans (12) and Conor Hayes (17).

The Handicap Scheme Monthly Medals are meant for golfers who are not members of the clubs, but are enrolled with the UGA. In addition to regular golf days players, subject to standard, can attain a handicap according to Congu (Councils of National Golf Unions) and LGU (Ladies Golf Union) systems.
