Q1. How do I take up the game?

All the Clubs will arrange introduction lessons or a package. You do not need to buy equipment or be a member. Just contact any of the U.A.E Golf Clubs as detailed on the Website.

Q2. How can I find out about the Rules of Golf and Etiquette?

A Rules Book and Etiquette section are produced by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club by St. Andrews and sponsored by Royal Sunalliance. These are available from Emirates Golf Federation. (Tel: + 971 4 3684988, Fax: +971 4 3684974).

Q3. I play golf in the UAE and am not a member of a Golf Club. What is my status as a Golfer?

You are not a member of a Golf Club so cannot hold a handicap.

You have a few choices including:

  • Join a club
  • Join the EGF Handicap Scheme - whereby a player, subject to standard, can attain and have administered a handicap according to the CONGU (Council of National Golf Council) and LGU (Ladies Golf Union) handicap systems. In addition regular golf days are organised for these golfers who also receive all the normal privileges of UGA membership. The cost of joining the EGF Handicap Scheme is Dhs. 595 for 12 months.
