Agnes Anwar won the Dubai Creek Ladies Amateur Open sponsored by Greg Norman at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th March. Anwar, representing the Emirates Golf Federation had a titanic battle with Dubai Creek’s Nasha Sarkari over the closing nine holes and was pushed all the way until the last putt was holed to win only by a single shot. Anwar scored gross 78(+7) and 81(+10) for the winning total of 159 (+17) and Sarkari finishing alone in runners up spot scored gross 81(+10) and 79(+8) totaling 160.
Anwar commented, “I love playing at Dubai Creek and it is great to be back playing competitively again after some time. It is a great honour to win this championship and thank you must go to my playing partners for making it an enjoyable day and all the ladies who played and supported the event. Thank you to Greg Norman – Prosports for sponsoring the event, Rob Gradishar, Course Superintendent and his team for the wonderful course condition and David Gray, Golf Operations Executive for organising such a wonderful two days.” In the Silver Division, Shloka Desai (DCGYC) clearly won by three shots with two very different net scores of 63 & 79 totaling 142. Naema Maya (DCGYC) clinched runners up spot with a net 71 & 74 totaling 145. The Bronze Division also witnessed a winning margin of three shots for Mego Han (DCGYC) with a total of net 133 (63 & 70). Joung Kim Worrel (Al Badia) finished in second place on 136 (73 & 63) by virtue of her amazing better last 18 holes from Akila Raghavan (DCGYC).Overall Akila Raghavan won best net on day one with a net 66 and day two was won by Chikako Inoue with her net 71.
